Mother | Social Worker | Advocate | Leader

My name is Nicole Bennett and I was elected to the Board of Education for Rockford Public Schools District #205 in April 2023. For the past year almost two years, I have served with integrity, honesty, and transparency. I have included voices from students, staff, parents, caregivers, community members, and my constituents. I have worked to ensure our school buildings are safe, our students are achieving, and we are investing into our school system and community. Lastly, my actions as a Board member have been fiscally responsible and aligned with the financial stewardship our taxpayers deserve.

I have over 18 years of extensive experience working with trauma surrounding youth and their families. My background includes work in child welfare, domestic violence, outpatient mental health facilities, a child advocacy center, Rockford Public Schools and United Way. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois.

I hold a Masters of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Illinois State University.

“I want to ensure everyone I encounter feels seen, heard, understood and empowered.”

I enjoy spending time with my husband, Dominick, and my two babies, Love and Sunny.

My mom always has been and always will be my biggest fan and greatest blessing.

I enjoy reading, going out to eat, flowers, coffee mugs, live music, traveling, being with my family and any reason to be in the sun or near water.
